Most of our staircases can be made to meet UK regualtions. There are some exceptions and we recomend that you always contact you building control office for permision before changing or adding any staircase. We can offer help and advice if required, however responsibility is upon the home owner to ensure that they have the correct permision for the staircase they purchase. Some of our models are available with riser bars that reduce the gap to meet UK regs for the open riser. As a general rule of thumb horizontal balustrades do not meet regualtions for domestic use. Some staircases have spindle spacings that exceed 100mm if you need your staircase to meet regulations you must inform us when ordering.

Size:
One of the main issues with spiral staircases and building regulations is the diameter of the spiral staircase. As a general rule of thumb a main staircase needs to be a diameter of at least 1.8m, for a secondary staircase or a staircase to access 1 room you will need a 1.6m diameter or larger.
